What is a crystal singing bowl? These bowls originated in Tibet approximately 1000 years ago. Singing bowls are bowls that are carved out of a big block of crystal. These hand carved bowls are usually made from quartz. To make them sing, a wooden stick that is covered on one end with a piece of suede is gently moved around the outside of the bowl in a circular fashion. This motion causes the crystal bowl to vibrate and this produces various tones.
